So How Long Do Grow Bags Actually Last?

worn out splitting grow bags

I bought 2 different sizes of grow bags in the spring of 2012.  I bought the 5 gallon and the 1 gallon.  The one gallon bags I purchased are shown in the photo above.  They lasted 3 seasons worth of growing and began to split this year.  Now that's a great deal at about 18 cents each.  The one gallon bags are perfect for growing bell peppers as you can see in the photo below where I had 15 bell pepper plants on a pallet.

I kept the bags outdoors all winter so they may have lasted longer had I brought them indoors.  The 5 gallon bags have not split at all and are still going strong.  I used them for growing watermelon and full grown tomato plants.  Below you can see how well the watermelons were doing.  You probably could actually grow watermelons on an apartment balcony.

The only wear/damage to the 5 gallon bags it on the top edge of the bag stretching just a bit when I grab the edges to move the plant as you can see below.  These are very durable!  As you can see in the photo below that is the extent of the damage caused by stretching.

I purchase all of my grow bags from Amazon.  Here's a few quick links the the various sizes available:
