Just wanted to say that I think that Rain Tower is wonderful. My GF wants one but I'm not all that great with tools and have no workspace (or grow lights for now). Anyone want to build me one?
This sounds very cool! Do you have any pictures to share?
Please share any photos and results.
im building the rain tower, and am curious on the "length" of the net pot holder. is there a decent way of explaining this? maybe from furthest point of angled side to top of the straight side?
Everyone Laughs, Until They Need Your Help...
When I did this project I cut the 3" pipe into 5 inch sections to make it easier to work with. Then I cut the end at a 50% angle on one side and the other end at 10% in the opposite direction, so that the small side had about a 1/8 inch left.
It's explained in this video.
I am super excited and have bought all of the materials to build my tower. Before I begin I have a couple of questions though-
I must be missing something in this build- how is the tower secured to the bucket? Is it only supported by the lid?
I am also unclear about where the splash shield is attached. The template is referred to here: http://www.tomorrowsgarden.net/rain.tower.splashsheild.pdf
Thanks for sharing your how-to videos about the Vertical Rain Tower. Your design is really simple, which is what makes it absolutely brilliant! I'm planning to build 3 or 4 of these soon to grow kale, chard, etc., in a spare room. The room is carpeted, so I think I'll probably buy one of those plastic hot water tank overflow trays and see how it goes.
Thanks again for sharing!
Just wanted to say Thank you and what a genius you are. I saw the $500.00 one and thought no way am I paying $500.00 for a plastic flower tower. I started searching for just a tower I could use for a DYI and came up empty . I started looking for a cheaper version of the $500 tower Then the universe was kind and I came upon your site.
A fence post PURE GENIUS. I never ever would have thought of that you are the bomb . Thank you for taking the time to make the video and updating it. I will be buying all my material through your links.
I bookedmarked your site I am your newest fan.
I already emailed my son and told him this is my Christmas present help me make one.
Love that everyone is pitching in to improve the original design . Great community
